Praise and PDFL

At TCA we pride ourselves on our caring nature. We have a strong PDfL system running alongside our Character Programme.

New school shield 5rs v4

Pupils can gain VIPs in lessons for excellent academic work and excellent attitude to learning. There are also 5 Rs available every lesson for any pupil who fulfils the requirements.

Reflective - putting into practice what you have learnt

Resilient - persevering and trying hard

We also have a Character Around School System where pupils can collect praise points for doing the right thing and being helpful.

Praise points lead to entries into prize draws and rewards.

Anyone not following our expectiations will have a reminder and a warning that expectations are not being met before a conversation with a senior member of staff and if necessary good neighbouring to another lesson.

Enrichment Activities

We run a wide ranging extra-curriuclar programme. The current plan can be found by clicking here. Activities range from sports clubs to Maths, Science and Cadets. At  the start of term in September you will be sent a link to a form whereby you can sign your child up to any after school activity. Clubs currently run from 3pm to 4pm. Sports club attendees will need their PE kit.

Houses

Your child will be placed in one of our houses, this will be their house group for school competitions.

Central 300x290Central House is named after one of the first schools located on our site - Central Grammar School.

Your son/daughter will have a red trimmed tie and wil need a red TCA PE polo shirt.

International House is named after the predecessor of Tile Cross Academy - The International School.

Your son/daughter will have a blue trimmed tie and wil need a blue TCA PE polo shirt.

Kenrick House is named after one of the first schools located on our site - Byng Kenrick Girls' Grammar School, then Byng Kenrick Central

Your son/daughter will have a purple trimmed tie and wil need a purple TCA PE polo shirt.

Martineau House is named after one of the first schools located on our site - Sir Wilfred Martineau School.
