New Academic Year starts on Wednesday 4th September 2019.

About us

The International School continues to improve at a pace. We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements. More of our students are gaining good academic results and are making a significant contribution to establishing The International School as an outstanding school. Year 11 students are on track to attain the best ever GCSE results at over 50% 5 A* to C including English and Maths. Attendance is the best ever at 94.26%, and there are many positive community developments taking place.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust have recognised our achievements by placing our school in the top 10% in the country for improving pupil achievement. We have a very happy and progressive school where pupils are the focus of everything we do and they have responded by taking on more responsibility for their conduct and learning.
As you may be aware, from the recent publicity, I have had to make some difficult and unpleasant decisions such as, managing staff redundancies and temporarily suspending courses in the 6th Form, in order to secure the future of the school.

Although we are facing significant challenges the actions that I and my team have taken will ensure the continued progress of our school and provide a solid base for future success.

Our school is and will be in a much stronger position.
We are looking forward to our Year 11 GCSE results and we are confident that we will see another substantial improvement in achievement. Our focus has not wavered and we are on course to become an outstanding school.

The International School looks forward to continued success and a bright future.
Thank you for your continued support.

The International School community comprises a wide range of different cultural and social backgrounds. We have over 50 different languages in our school and we strive to make the curriculum and school life as accessible and inclusive as we possibly can. We believe it is important to:

  • Celebrate our differences
  • Share our experiences
  • Learn from and with each other

We believe that our diversity is one of our strengths and we strive to welcome and involve everyone.

We believe that a school should reflect the changes that happen at an increasing pace at the beginning of the 21st century. We actively pursue and adopt new technologies and ways of teaching and learning in order to provide ‘best of breed’ to both students and teachers. In this way, we believe we are creating a truly 21st century educational environment.

Teaching and learning is at the core of what we do. We aim to provide the highest quality teaching and learning for our students so that they can achieve their potential.

We have highly qualified, committed and hardworking staff who recognise the importance of a strong partnership between them, the student and home.
