AN INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

BTEC Firsts in Music can help you take your first steps towards a career in the music industry. You’ll learn essential skills from performing and composing to producing, sound engineering and promoting a new track, album or concert.

WHAT THE COURSE INVOLVES

Subject Content

The subject content for GCSE Drama is divided into four  units, 2 mandatory and 2 specialist:

  • The Music Industry
  • Managing a Music Product
  • Introducing Music Performance
  • Introducing Music Sequencing

 Unit 1: The Music Industry

  • Understand different types of organisations that make up the music industry.
  • Understand job roles in the music industry.

How it’s assessed – Written exam:

Unit 2: Managing a Music Product.

  • Plan, develop and deliver a music product
  • Promote a music product
  • Review the management of a music product

How it’s assessed – Internal Course Work

Unit 5: Introducing Music Performance

  • Develop your music performance skills and review your own practice
  • Use your music performance skills within rehearsal and performance

How it’s assessed – Internal Course Work

 Unit 7: Introducing Music Sequencing

  • Explore music sequencing techniques
  • Use music sequencing software to create music
